Breaking The ice

Skater Spotlight with Bobby Farnham

In Bobby Farnham’s opinion, PPG Paints Arena was the best venue 3ICE has played at thus far from the crowd capacity to the overall hospitality setup, and I think many would agree with him. The great turnout and the enthusiastic crowd made for a great weekend in Pittsburgh that all the players really enjoyed, especially Farnham.

“It's awesome to be back in Pittsburgh and obviously winning is really fun, so we had a blast,” Farnham said. “I think that was the best venue so far, like crowd capacity and setup. It was a really good turnout, and we had a really good time.”

It’s always special to return to a place that made an impact on your life, and that’s exactly how the former Penguin felt when returning to Pittsburgh. Even before his team took the ice, Farnham was reunited with some former teammates and Penguins staff in the hallways of PPG.

“Tyler Kennedy was doing a camp beforehand, so a lot of familiar faces being back here, but just being in this building is such a great arena,” Farnham said. “Paul De Fazio took some of the guys to the locker room earlier. It's always great to be back here, the organization is top notch.”

Thanks to #46, Team Trottier had another shot at earning another championship win after he came up big to score the game-winning goal in the semifinal game against Team Fuhr to advance to the final. But in the eyes of Farnham, goaltender Parker Milner was the star of the show.

“I thought Parker was great in net and it starts with him,” Farnham said. “It starts from the back, and he was phenomenal the whole day. We just stay super positive and there's like zero negativity, so I think that's the most important thing here.”

Looking ahead to the final weeks of the season, Team Trottier has a rather simple mindset in search of earning as many points as possible to land a spot in the playoffs. The six points they earned in Pittsburgh put them six points behind first-place Team Mullen, but they look to use momentum and the same game plan from their win when they travel to Quebec City next weekend.

“You just try to win game one next week and then just keep moving like that,” Farnham said.
