The Winner's Circle, Week 8- Coach Joe Mullen

Coach’s Corner with Joe Mullen

Winning always feels great for coach Joe Mullen, and to open and close out the season with a win felt even better. While his team came away with the win this weekend, there was just one difference for the head coach.

“The only thing that was different was that I was here at home watching it on TV,” Mullen said.

Mullen made sure to still follow his team on Saturday and from what saw on TV, the whole structure of his team led them to the victory. He shared that they rise to the occasion all the time, and they always seem to get the job done together by working and playing hard.

“I thought this was one of their better weeks even, they just seem to get better and better each and every game,” Mullen said. “They really put it together this week and played very well from the first round to the second round to the third.”

Even though their head coach wasn’t there in the room with them to celebrate, Team Mullen made sure to include their coach in on the locker room celebrations via Facetime.

“They FaceTimed me while they were in the dressing room, so it meant a lot to me that they did that,” Mullen said. “We had a couple of laughs, I congratulated them, and told them what a good job they did this past weekend.”

Mullen understands that even though his team won five of the eight weekend regular season championships, it’s a clean slate for the four teams who have the chance to compete for the Patty Cup in Vegas.

“I think the mindset is that they’re all looking towards the finals here,” Mullen said. “We have as good of a chance as anybody else to win. We've had a lot of success so far and this is the way we're going to try to keep it.”
